A Little About Me
| Here is a little information about me. I was born
in the Texas panhandle and grew up in Lubbock, Texas. My parents are both
Christians and have taught Sunday School ever since I can remember. My mom's
passion was preschool and children, while my dad had great love for college
students (He taught in the college ministry at First Baptist Church, Lubbock for years). When I
was 9 years old, I gave Jesus Christ control of my life. |

Later, while in college God called me into the
ministry. After college, I graduated from Southwestern Baptist Theological
Seminary with a Master of Arts in Religious Education. I have been a youth
minister and an education minister before joining the staff of the Arizona
Southern Baptist Convention. While a youth minister in Waxahachie, Texas (that's
right - Wox-uh-HA-chee, don't ask me what it means) I met my beautiful
wife Tracy. Actually we met in church during the welcome in the worship service.
I was very desperate and offered her a lot of money to marry me! We have two
wonderful children, Zachary and Mary Kathryn. |
|
| I am currently working on a Doctor of Education
Ministry degree in Church Growth and Evangelism at The Southern Baptist Theological
Seminary. I love working with churches, pastors, leaders or whoever will listen
in the areas of evangelism, church growth, discipleship, Bible study, small
groups, and Vacation Bible School, to mention a few. |
| My son Zachary has recently become a teenager,
and now I am rediscovering an old ministry favorite of mine - STUDENT MINISTRY.
As I have watched him grow, I am increasingly convinced that we are selling our
students short in the local church. They could and would do so much more.
Zachary plays in the high school marching band and I am amazed at the high level
of commitment and performance the students in the marching band display. We are
missing a great opportunity to challenge our students with the gospel of Christ,
and I am renewing my commitment to build bridges to this new generation. |

| Another interest I have is reading and studying
the Puritan preachers. Yes that's right! I said Puritan! You know...
George Whitefield, John Bunyan, Richard Baxter, etc. I have found a depth of
spirituality there that refreshes and challenges me in my personal journey with
Jesus Christ. So, if you have some old dusty books laying around, I will
probably be interested in them. |
By His grace and for His glory!
