As a youth minister, Bob developed his own youth camps and regularly had attendance from his own church of over 100 at his youth camps and Disciple Now weekends.

Mayfield's ministry with the Baptist General Convention of Oklahoma  involves training and consultations in the areas of Bible study, discipleship, prayer, evangelism, and church growth. He travels extensively across the state and nation as a trainer and a church consultant. He is a member of BACE (Baptist Association of Christian Education) and the National Sunday School Director's Fellowship.

Bob is currently studying for the Doctor of Education Ministry degree from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky. His ministry project is developing a leadership growth plan for adult Bible study leaders in the state of Oklahoma.
